As Director of Engineering for EC2 Core Compute, I lead diverse teams across the EU and USA, driving innovation in cloud virtualization and compute platforms. My focus encompasses the AWS Nitro System—including Nitro Cards, Nitro Security Chip, Nitro Hypervisor, AWS Nitro Enclaves, and NitroTPM—as well as EC2 General Purpose instance platforms (C, M, R, X, T families).My mission centers on engineering highly-secure, stable, high-performing, and price-competitive EC2 instances powered by the industry\'s most secure, reliable, and feature-rich AWS Nitro System. This includes delivering faster innovation through rapid development of new instance types, enhanced security with industry-leading isolation and protection, better performance and price through dedicated hardware acceleration, and support for previous generation instances.In this role, I drive talent management across geographies, fostering high-performance collaboration among engineers, managers, and teams in different regions. My responsibilities include owning and executing the engineering roadmap, coordinating efforts across multiple locations for cohesive development approaches.Beyond the Nitro System and EC2 Instance Platforms, I collaborate with multiple AWS organizations including Annapurna for Nitro Card development, Graviton teams, AWS hardware engineering, supply chain, and data center operations. I implement effective planning mechanisms and build systems that enhance deliverable quality and efficiency. Regular customer interactions provide insights into unique needs, allowing continuous roadmap refinement.My work spans critical areas of cloud infrastructure, from foundational hypervisor technology and advanced security features like AWS Nitro Enclaves for confidential computing to NitroTPM for cryptographic operations, ensuring AWS customers have access to the most innovative and secure compute solutions available.
