ABOUT IOANNIS YIANNIS ASIKIS
Currently a sophomore at Boston University’s Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies, pursuing a B.A. in International Relations. My studies focus on International Systems and World Order, with a regional emphasis on Europe, examining how governments shape and project influence through trade, security policy, and international cooperation. This past year, I had the honor of serving as the Student Member on the Massachusetts Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, one of the few student voting members in the country. Representing more than students statewide, I worked with state leaders to advance conversations on school funding, literacy programs, and mental health supports. I also served on the Board’s Budget Committee, reviewing nearly $6.9 billion in education aid for local districts.Fluent in English and Greek and proficient in Spanish, I value being able to connect with peers from many different backgrounds and cultures, something that continues to shape how I see collaboration and community. Outside the classroom, I love visiting contemporary art exhibits (especially works by Calder and Rothko), keeping up with the tennis circuit (I’m a big fan of Jannik Sinner), and experimenting with new chocolate flavor combinations.
