About Charlie Garland

I am currently engaged with a major global corporation in helping them to develop a CULTURE OF INNOVATION and Creativity. In doing this, we are employing powerful interventions, co-designed by employees themselves, that result in clear, rapid, and sustainable changes in employee behavior - both cogntivie (thinking) and physical (action/communication oriented)- that are measurable. A key component of this engagement is the use of The Innovation Habit™ tools and methods (see below). I designed and lead a professional development service called TheInnovationHabit.com. This is a coaching process that helps make innovative thinking - which leads to innovative behavior and outcomes - a reliable, measurable habit. It combines models and methods created by BJ Fogg, PhD (professor at Stanford University), integrateded with cognitive-behavioral elements of major innovation processes, including Design Thinking, Creative Problem Solving, Agile, Lean, Cognitive Science, and many more. I define innovation in the following way:\"the process of creating and delivering new value, for one or more stakeholders, through the unique use of available resources.\" You may choose to define it differently; if so, I\'d be very interested to understand your rationale and context (I find value in learning new insights from others, especially those with unique/diverse perspectives). Mine is a pragmatic definition that has evolved via iterative refinement for over 15 years, and I\'ve found it to be especially empowering (and motivating) to others. I have developed an innovation/critical-thinking tool that both triggers and guides innovative thinking, called \"Cubie™.\" This is a tool that helps to increase your Cognitive Buoyancy®, which is an individual\'s propensity to access their \"higher-order\"(System 2) thinking - a necessity for innovative thinking.
