ABOUT INGRIDA OLENDRAITE
Hello! I am currently enjoying the extensive world of bioinformatic analysis while helping scientists around the globe with their data. At VUGENE we have comprehensive experience with analysis and multiomics integration of metabolomics, various RNA seqs (single cell and spatial transcriptomics), increasingly growing proteomics and epigenetics as well as custom analysis projects. With our brilliant team and our computational resources we can help you speed up with your projects, be it at industry, or academia. We also focus on integration of multiple different omics approaches, thus if you are interested in multiomic view of your research question - let me know, I think we can help you! Previously, I spent most of my time doing scientific computing: performing computational biology / bioinformatics analysis to discover thousands novel RNA viruses and describe their molecular mechanisms/proteins. I analysed RNA-seq data, assemble new viral genomes, characterise their molecular biology and sometimes - give a name to a newly discovered RNA virus. This kind of research involves programming in Python or using other software in UNIX based environment as well as looking into many different types of datasets. I also need to use all my Molecular Biology knowledge about essential proteins (RNA-dependent RNA polymerases, Helicases, Proteases and other viral proteins) and processes (evolution, replication, translation, transcription and others) in a virus host cell. Most of my research was dedicated to RNA viruses, with special focus to RdRp (Influenza\'s and Polycipivridae are close to my heart) and host range.Recently I have joined VUGENE as a CSO and am massively enjoying this experience with a brilliant team working on diverse projects and pipelines. Additionally, I am interested in Machine Learning (thanks to my MSc laboratory in London!), everything what involves RNA and modifications (epitranscriptomics sounds amazing!) and creative science communication (especially fighting mis-information). I currently also lead the organisational committee for the RdRp summit meeting (community of RdRp-based RNA virus discovery). I also worked on SARS-CoV-2 identification using CRISPR/Cas. In my free time I talk to the general public, consult book writers and our book on RNA is now a sold-out!Open for collaborations!
