ABOUT INGRID JOHNSON

Building a more efficient, effective, diverse and inclusive healthcare system designed to fully serve all patients is both complex and challenging as we aim to ensure all people have access to safe, quality, culturally competent healthcare. Doing so requires innovation, creativity, and an ability to analyze and understand how data intersects with evidence based practice. There is a need to fully appreciate the challenges and barriers facing communities and patients both personally and at the local, state and national level, which are sometimes compounded by outdated and ineffective policies. Creating strong and empowered providers and a diversity of leaders who can, in turn, empower their staff and create an open, trusting and collaborative environment will transform our healthcare system. Doing so will require vision, a willingness to embrace the data, and courage to try new strategies designed to build more support for foundational needs such as housing, nutrition, illness prevention and health promotion into healthcare. It is a long path that can help us safely and effectively create culture change within our systems to drive an environment of patient centered care that always strives to give a voice to the voiceless and improve the welfare of all.
