As a member of EMA’s medical writer team I am responsible for writing key strategic communication materials on the outcome of medicines safety reviews as well as the risks and benefits on medicines in general. This includes press releases, question and answer documents and general information sheets on how the Agency has assessed individual medicines. My background as a clinical pharmacist provides me with a unique insight into the communication needs of patients and healthcare professionals and the ability to tailor messages to these different target groups to ensure broad outreach. Part of my job includes writing briefing notes for press officers at the national Agencies on any medicine related issues attracting media attention. Engaging with stakeholders is key to my job and I also coordinate and respond to enquirers from the general public, patients and healthcare professionals. In my current role I am also very used to giving regular presentations inside and outside of the Agency.
