ABOUT INDRAPAL GURJAR
I am a PhD candidate at the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, working on one of the most consequential geopolitical questions of our time: how the European Union and Russia have designed and pursued their competing Arctic strategies from 2008 to 2025. My doctoral thesis,\"Comparative Study of the European Union and Russia\'s Arctic Strategy, 2008–2025\" examines how climate imperatives, resource politics, legal contestation, and the rupture in EU-Russia relations following 2014 and 2022 have reshaped Arctic governance. My synopsis has been defended and I am currently in the dissertation-writing phase. I have presented my research at the Arctic Frontiers \"Turn of the Tide\" Conference 2026 in Tromsø, Norway (funded by the Norwegian Embassy in New Delhi) and at the BISA-ISA Joint International Studies Conference in Newcastle. I have been selected to attend the NVP International Summer School 2026 in Svalbard, Longyearbyen, one of the most prestigious early-career Arctic research programmes in the world. I hold the UGC-NET Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in both International Relations & Area Studies and Political Science, awarded by the Government of India and ranked 1st in the MA International Relations entrance examination at Jamia Millia Islamia. I am keen to connect with Arctic scholars, policy institutions, and research organisations working on EU foreign policy, Russian Arctic strategy, polar governance, and great power competition in the High North.
