Transferred from the Woodmead office in South Africa to the Vancouver office in Canada. Conducted due diligence assessments on behalf of lending institutions and developers for variousrun-of-river hydroelectric and wind energy projects in British Columbia. Deliverables included areview of the applicable permitting requirements for the project and an assessment of theassociated environmental issues.Provided environmental and sustainability input to the Pre-Feasibility Assessment of a Zinc Mine in Nunavut. Ensured assimilation of environmental information and requirements into project design and mitigation strategies, including communication and interpretation of information to the Project engineering team. Outlined engineering constraints based on available information and identified risks and opportunities associated with the development of the Project. Also assisted in developing preliminary waste management and closure and reclamation plans for the Project based on the Clients Goals and Objectives and applicable policies, guidelines and other requirements.Currently involved in review of the design-build contractors (DBC) environmental management program being undertaken for the Port Mann / Highway 1 Upgrade Project in British Columbia, Canada. Responsible for review and input to weekly environmental monitoring plans, environmental work plans and environmental quality reports. Also involved in conducting audits for various activities being undertaken by the Project, compiling applications for permits required in terms of legislation, preparing compliance reports as specified in the Environmental Assessment Certificate and permit close-out documentation required by the relevant approval agencies.

ABOUT INDRAN GOVENDER
Indran is a Senior Environmental Specialist with more than twenty years experience in the environmental management field. His experience includes: research on alternate and renewable energy technologies, including life cycle assessments and climate change implications for Eskom; identification and description of applicable environmental standards and regulatory information including the nature and range of environmental approvals required for large scale energy and infrastructure projects; environmental site screening and fatal flaw assessments for potential new build generation options, project management of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) undertaken and compiling Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) for various projects. He has also carried out strategic planning for future generation activities; conducted externality assessments of hypothetical wind power, open cycle gas turbines and imported hydroelectric electricity generation projects; provided general environmental management and compliance reporting for all construction activities during the construction phase of large-scale infrastructure projects; provided environmental and sustainability input to the Pre-Feasibility Assessment of a zinc mine in Nunavut; and undertaken due diligence reviews on behalf of financing institutions for various proposed solar projects in South Africa and hydro-electric and wind projects in Canada.
