System architecture and IC design of cryogenic electronics for silicon qubit manipulation and read-out in cutting-edge FDSOI CMOS process. Silicon based quantum device characterization. Equal1 Labs is a quantum computing startup with a vision to build a miniaturized and low-cost quantum computer that can deliver exponential computing power. At the heart of our apparatus is a Quantum Processor Unit (QPU) in which the cryogenic electronics for qubit manipulation and read out is monolithically integrated with a garden variety of silicon-based quantum structures with qubit counts between 6 and 424. The QPU, designed in commercial CMOS process, is cooled to a temperature of 3.5K using a two-stage Gifford McMahon cryocooler; much simpler cryocooler compared to a dilution fridge. Efforts are underway to characterize and enhance qubit fidelity to enable this technology for a diverse range of applications including vaccine discovery, climate modelling, financial services and artificial intelligence.
