WORK HISTORY
Support Worker @Cygnet
England, GB
I have worked in this position both as full time and bank staff since 2020. I work at a small residential home and supported living unit, providing bespoke care and support for individuals with diagnoses of autism, learning disabilities, mental health and physical conditions. I have really enjoyed getting to know the service users, building a strong rapport and therapeutic relationship over the years. The role has given the opportunity to develop my skills in compassionate listening, allowing me to better advocate for those whose voices are not always heard and involve individuals to make decisions about their care. Not only do I feel I have an empathetic approach to emotionally supporting individuals but I have learnt to provide companionship and help with self regulation in challenging situations. I feel a sense of humour and positive attitude helps. The job involves supporting individuals in all ways relevant to the individual, including finances, cleaning, personal care, nutrition, medication administration, meal preparation and accessing the community. Whilst following care plans and taking all opportunities to encourage independence, even when this can prove challenging. The role was an excellent way for me to learn to adjust and generate care and support plans, risk assessments and activity planners. As well as leading and supporting in individual and group meaningful activities. I was previously IPC lead and pride myself on my knowledge CQC and NICE guidelines and their influence on company policies.
