About Christopher I.
As a Controls Subject Matter Expert at Meta, I contribute to the development and operations of next-generation AI Type F and Type 6 building designs. With extensive experience in programmable logic controllers (PLC), building management systems (BMS), and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, I specialize in managing vendor relationships, global team collaborations, and implementing advanced systems like Aveva System Platform and Ignition. Over more than 17 years, I have supported end-to-end control system architecture, development, testing, and optimization for hyperscale data centers and pharmaceutical GMP/R&D environments. My focus is on harnessing advanced tools and protocols, including Modbus, BACnet, and OPC UA, to troubleshoot and enhance critical systems. I am dedicated to driving continuous improvement projects to optimize operations and deliver impactful solutions globally.

o Lead construction controls engineer for operations of next gen AALC AI Type F and Type 6 building designs, requiring management of multiple vendors and interfacing with global construction teams and implementation of Aveva System Platform as the SCADA system and Ignition as the EPMS I/O gateway.o Provided troubleshooting support for Alerton and Schneider PLC BMS, EPMS and SCADA systems, Modbus, BACnet and OPC UA protocols and general networking and switches with global applicability to other sites that were experiencing the same problems. Examples include resolution of supply fan control airflow issues and generator communications issues.o Designed and executed self-conceived continuous improvement projects including improved ECH control for Alerton systems, improved blowdown control for Alerton systems and temporary chiller PLC integration.o Used VS Code to implement Python changes for internal tooling (e.g. Building Alert Management) with control systems through diff submissions.o Designed dashboards, notification alerts and other analytics for leadership teams to provide better insight on supply fan modes and generators and developed custom battery health monitoring for across the fleet, which required developing SQL queries.o Participated in several global programmatic (including pilots) efforts with global engineering and data scientists, including incorporating AI predictive and physical control model for supply fan speeds, automatic Windows Updates on critical servers requiring custom scripting to monitor control system health and redundancy and platform and PLC firmware and program updates.o Participated in multiple local FIR (Facility Incident Report) requiring root cause analysis (RCA) including for temperature excursion and control failures.o Led and mentored junior controls engineers.o Developed and provided training on Type F and Type 6 designs.o Served as local systems admin for Windows and SQL troubleshooting, utilizing vSphere.
