About Imani Bah
As a Neuroscience graduate from Northwestern University with a minor in Global Health, I have a strong academic background and a passion for advancing health equity through research, education, and service. I have submitted multiple peer-reviewed written assignments on topics such as maternal health, Multiple Sclerosis, learned helplessness, illness narratives, and health disparities and presented my findings at regional and international venues and conferences. My myriad of experiences enhanced my skills in clinical research, recruiting, writing content, collaboration, communication, leadership, and service. I am exploring my strong interest in cardiology and oncology. Secondarily: neonatology, neurology, anesthesiology, psychiatry, and pediatric oncology, and how to create substantive change in global health, public health policy and implementation, and innovation in medical treatment. I plan to apply to medical school for the 2024 matriculation year and seek scholarships for my exemplary leadership, service, and commitment to academic inquiry. Lifetime goals: increase health infrastructure in West Africa through (1) international institutional partnerships, educational exchange, and building of hospitals.(2) Increase healthcare accessibility and contribute to projects that work to reduce death gaps caused by health inequity (3) Make contributions to medical innovation (treatment, medical technology, or supplements / herbal medicine/ functional medicine). Concerned with the overprescribing of medication without adequate consideration of side-effects and minimal attention to how lifestyle, habits, and toxic societal systems contribute and potentially perpetuate chronic illness. Also concerned with the efforts to eliminate DEI, which is a solution to eliminating healthcare disparities and increase health equity.
