I am a computer scientist working on computational tools that enable new biological insights.My Ph.D. and initial post-graduate work were in formal system verification. I then retrained into bioinformatics, seeking to contribute to biomedical applications, and joined the Broad Institute. Topics of my work include assembling of human and pathogen genomes from high-throughput sequencing data, finding genetic variants subject to positive selection pressure, and simulating the spread of mutations through populations.
