I am a system engineer with more than 12 years of experience in systems development all of which have been earned in the automotive industry. The biggest joy I get from my work is when it involves modelling. When asked why modelling, the first thing that springs to mind is the old saying “A picture is worth a thousand words”. That is to say that words are not rich enough to describe efficiently a complex system. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. A model is a way to communicate unambiguously the desired behaviour as well as validation of the expected behaviour.
