ABOUT ILEANA OVALLE
Executive identifying key opportunities in innovative technologies and delivering impact for enterprise, education, government, nonprofits and philanthropy. Ileana has led impact initiatives at Google as the global lead for strategy & operations in procurement responsibility; launched an urgent global exposure notification app to address the COVID pandemic via an unprecedented partnership between Google and Apple; worked with global regulators and Google product engineers/policy team to protect users from abuse vectors such as mis/disinfo, online harms, CSAM, hate, harm, violent extremism, & AI/deep fakes as a key member of Google’s Trust & Safety team. Passionate about providing pervasive internet access, Ileana forged government partnerships to deploy Google Fiber; served as director of government policy, regulatory affairs, community relations for Cox Communication leading CA state, local lobbying and a national escalations team. Prior to her tech career, Ileana held careers in foundation grantmaking, land use and development, and as a librarian.In 2023, Ileana was appointed by the State Senate to serve on CA Organized Investment Network (COIN), to guide community development organizations to source financially sound investments/advise insurers to invest in underserved areas. Ileana is Chair of Trustees, Museum of Us. She has provided leadership as Community Advisor, to the Chancellor, University of California, San Diego; Chair and capital campaign member of Ocean Discovery Institute; Board of Governors, The San Diego Foundation; Advisory Board, University of San Diego’s Nonprofit Institute; San Diego State University Alumni Board. Ovalle was an appointed official on both the City of San Diego’s International Affairs Board and San Diego Public Library Commission. She\'s a graduate of Hispanas Organized for Political Equality, LEAD San Diego and was twice named Woman of the Year for CA 80th Assembly District (2016/17). In 2021, Ovalle received the Ring of Honor Award for MANA’s National Latina Leadership Organization and in 2023 CA Senate President ProTem Toni Atkins recognized Ileana’s outstanding community leadership by naming her a 2023 Woman of Senate District 39.Born and raised in San Diego, Ileana travels for arts, culture, language and UNESCO World Heritage sites.
