About Ifeoluwa Adediran
Writing for systemic change, activism, gender, and social justice have been the core of my writing since I first entered the mainstream media in Nigeria as an editorial reporter with Premium Times. I spent over 3 years combing the Lagos metropolis and southwest Nigeria for cases of social injustice, systemic abuse of power, and gross violations of human rights. Some of my reports yielded significant results, and one of my proudest moments was when a woman was released from jail after 10 years of incarceration without an adequate trial. My reports ranged from the forceful eviction of vulnerable groups to environmental abuse and gender injustice. I spent the last few years working with the BBC 50:50 Team (Gender Equality Project Team) to achieve better representation of women, persons with disabilities, and ethnic minorities in the media. As a graduate student at FSU, I’m undertaking studies in the field of Rhetoric and Composition with the aim of harnessing writing to further advance my goals and cause systemic change.
