As a Controller of Site Safety (COSS) operating within the UK rail network, I oversee the safe delivery of vegetation management projects across South Wales. My role ensures that all work is conducted to the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and quality, in line with Network Rail protocols and site-specific risk assessments.Key Responsibilities:Act as the designated COSS on-site, ensuring full compliance with all Network Rail safety procedures and regulations.Manage safe systems of work (SSOW) for vegetation management crews working in rail environments.Coordinate and supervise de-vegetation activities, ensuring minimal disruption to rail services and infrastructure.Conduct on-site briefings, hazard identifications, and implement control measures as required.Maintain clear communication with project managers, site operatives, and Network Rail representatives.Monitor and document site operations to ensure adherence to quality standards and project timelines.Promote a culture of safety-first and continuous improvement across all worksites.Key Skills & Competencies:Fully qualified Controller of Site Safety (COSS)Strong understanding of Network Rail safety standards and proceduresExperience in vegetation management within rail corridorsEffective communicator and on-site leaderCommitted to delivering high-efficiency, high-quality outcomesProactive in identifying and mitigating risks in complex site environmentsAchievements & Impact:Successfully delivered multiple vegetation management projects across South Wales with zero safety incidentsKnown for consistently meeting project deadlines while maintaining exceptional safety and operational standards
