ABOUT ISAAC NGUYEN

Currently, I\'m a UX/UI Designer, rapid prototyper and video game designer. I am interested in data engineering (SQL, PowerBI), cybersecurity and program management.I\'m a first generation American of Vietnamese descent graduate from Wartburg College. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science on May 2023. Go Knights! I received Magna Cum Laude honors (3.84 GPA) and was on the Dean\'s List.I worked as a tutor in Computer Science/Maths courses. My goal is to be able to give struggling students access to educational resources. Learning should be fun & smooth. Learning is about finding the ways that you learn best and that is what I am there to help my students with. I guide them through understanding key concepts of programming like data structures & algorithms, syntax of programming languages like Python and R. I help them create data models with Vensim so we can visualize information. My biggest achievement was seeing their journey of improvement.I have had 1 year of internship experience, programming in C# and working with Azure services. I had the chance to train neural models to create custom templates for insurance forms. Scrum/Agile was accentuated greatly and I was lucky to get to participate in Scrum ceremonies and daily standup. My big projects included creating an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) program that digitized old handwritten insurance application data. My biggest accomplishment was that my program ended up being used in the entire Insurance division and helped them analyze data faster and more efficiently. My other big project was cost containment in which I managed Azure subscriptions and moved Azure services, which would save the Insurance division money. My senior project was full-stack (Python, SQLite3, Flask, HTML/CSS). We created a dynamic website that was designed to help new student orientation. We realized that orientation is packed with too much information at once. Based off feedback, they needed a more fun and interactive way to learn and retain this information. We surveyed the campus asking them what they wish they knew before arriving to campus, using these responses as a basis. Our quiz encourages friendly competition in our social boards where students can see leaderboards and chat with others in their graduating class.I am a founder and social media manager of Wartburg College\'s ping pong club. I have helped make this club officially recognized and funded by Senate. My hobbies include music and exercise (swimming, ping pong or volleyball, anything that clears the mind and moves the body).
