Used statistical software to analyze qualitative and quantitative communicable disease data trends for peer-reviewed publications. Examples include using SQL to analyze varicella (chickenpox) and zoster trends on maritime conveyances to determine the cost-effectiveness of vaccination. Mitigated the importation and spread of communicable diseases into and within the U.S. by conducting public health surveillance responses at the CDC Philadelphia Port Health Station. Examples include responding to reports of ill travelers via 10 air and seaports of entry in Pennsylvania and Delaware. Collaborated with port and public health partners to enact public health travel restrictions for people confirmed or suspected to have a communicable disease of public health concern and with imminent travel plans.Supported state and local public health departments in airline contact investigations. This includes following up on a confirmed case of communicable disease involving air travel, determining which contacts may be at risk of disease, and coordinating follow-up with jurisdictional state and local health departments. Conducted onsite communication and training with port and public health partners. Examples include training U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on reporting ill travelers to the CDC. Developed and deployed innovative health communication materials for travelers at U.S. ports of entry. Examples include airport health monitor messages. Conducted public health preparedness activities at ports of entry. Examples include developing and maintaining communicable disease response plans for airports and seaports and conducting emergency response exercises. Developed a portion of a CDC-internally published book describing the responses of CDC Port Health Stations over the last 15 years. This included analyzing over surveillance reports and writing summaries that tell the public health impact of CDC Port Health Stations.

I have an unyielding passion for women’s health, with a desired focus on reproductive health and sexual wellness. I am also interested in combating health disparities that disproportionately affect minoritized communities I am currently seeking full-time employment in the public health sector in research, program implementation/management, or consulting.
