ABOUT IAN WILLIAMS
I am an experienced and values-driven senior leader with over 22 years in education, including seven years as Deputy Headteacher and five as Assistant Headteacher. My work spans mainstream and alternative settings across EYFS to KS4, with a strong focus on inclusion, behaviour, and the social-emotional development of pupils.Throughout my career, I have led on key strategic areas including SEMH provision, safeguarding, restorative behaviour, and personal development. I have developed whole-school systems that foster belonging, reduce exclusions, and ensure that every child, regardless of background or need, can access learning in a safe and supportive environment. My leadership is rooted in relational practice, high expectations, and a belief that behaviour is communication. I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in SEND and a Graduate Certificate in Counselling & Psychotherapy, which complement my practical experience and underpin my trauma-informed and emotionally aware approach to leadership.I am passionate about building staff capacity through coaching, mentoring, and professional reflection. I’ve supported teachers and leaders at all levels and actively contribute to wider professional learning through panels, committees, and cross-sector collaboration, particularly where education, personal development & mental health intersect. With a background in music and the creative arts, I bring curiosity and innovation to my work. I value creativity as a tool for connection, growth, and inclusion, both for learners, staff & wider communities.I lead with clarity, compassion, and conviction, striving to build cultures where wellbeing and achievement go hand in hand. Whether designing inclusive systems or nurturing whole-school development, I remain committed to creating spaces where everyone feels seen, safe, and able to thrive.
