ABOUT IAN ROBINSON
Ian is an IT Management Consultant for KPMG and enjoys working with a diverse range of clients. He has worked in IT & Telecommunications for over 30 years, 20 of these at BT and 7 at Peru Consulting. He has been leading on CIO advisory, IT outsource and Disaster Recovery for Retail Banks in the UK and Ireland as well as global manufacturing companies.He has held many CTO and CIO roles as well as General Management roles on the board of a number of self contained businesses with their own brand and P&L within BT. These include Business Solutions, Redcare, Directories, Payphones. The Phone book, The service, Openzone, Wireless Cities, Openworld and Genie.Highlights include:• Building a strategic system stack with Salesforce CRM, Microsoft Dynamics ERP and Remedy for Service for BT\'s acquired businesses which generated £500M Revenue• Transforming and optimising technology for a portfolio of heritage businesses which where generating £500M Revenue • Developing BT Wi-Fi (the largest public Wi-Fi operator in the world with over 5M hotspots) into a high growth and profitable business unit through the development of new products for Hilton, Starbucks and many more as the General Manager, commercial & products. • Launching broadband over WiMax services across Lincolnshire and Northern Ireland and launched SDSL broadband in the UK• Wrote the Wireless Broadband Strategy which included a proposal to create ‘Wireless Cities’ which he subsequently rolled out across 12 cities the UK• Led the rollout of Global Mobile Internet services across ten countries as the CIO of Genie • Led on technology innovation as the CTO of BT Openworld which launched broadband services across the UKIan has a Masters Degree in Telecoms Business from University College London and an Honours Degree in Computer Science from De Montfort University.
