ABOUT IAN REASON
Ian Reason is a highly accomplished and experienced Aerospace and Defense senior executive across the full life cycle from OEM to Aftermarket. In his last full-time role as Senior Vice President, Barnes Group Inc. & President, Barnes Aerospace, he tripled the business over a 3-year period ($350M to $1Bn) which directly led to the sale (take private) of the business to Apollo Global Management in January 2025. An inspirational leader and collaborative team builder, he is growth and transformation oriented with the proven ability to expand sales and margins in underperforming businesses. Ian’s varied career path has given him a deep and balanced whole lifecycle understanding of the defense and commercial aerospace OEM and Aftermarket from both the government / military procurement and commercial perspective. His drive and belief in the benefits of customer and market diversification have also given him experience in the strategy and execution of adjacent market growth. Ian leads by example and quickly earns and builds trust across the entire stakeholder base. When there is uncertainty, he can drive clarity and a provide a clear sense of direction and vision. Having worked in the government and private sectors, as well as living and working internationally, he has a global perspective and outlook.Before joining Barnes, Ian Reason was the Operating Company President of Triumph Mechanical Solutions, Interiors & Structures with P&L responsibility (~$580M) for 15 sites located in the US, Mexico, UK, Isle of Man, France & Germany. An inspirational leader and collaborative team builder, he is growth oriented with the proven ability to quickly expand both sales and margins in underperforming businesses.Prior to Triumph, Ian was with BAE Systems for 12 years in the UK and US undertaking various business development, general management and P&L leadership roles. He held senior positions on the F-35 program including 7 years at Lockheed Martin’s Fort Worth, TX facility as the Global Sustainment Customer Alignment Director and then as the BAE Systems VP/GM for the F-35 program. Ian also served as VP of Business Development for Training Solutions.Prior to BAE Systems, Ian, a proud and accomplished veteran, served for 24 years as a commissioned officer in the Royal Navy, specializing as an Aircraft Engineering Officer working at sea with both fast jets and rotary wing aircraft, with operational service in the Falklands, Persian Gulf and Kosovo. Ian was made a Member of the British Empire by HM the Queen for his operational performance and leadership.
