ABOUT IAN POPPLESTONE

Driven Project Manager with a wealth of project and programme delivery experience, ranging from global HR transformation initiatives to multi-software technical implementations. Following a long and well-established stint within DHL’s regional HR function, I made the move to Boxfusion, a specialist consultancy that focuses on Oracle product implementation. There have been a number of benefits with making this kind of move, the most significant being the opportunity to experience the workings and challenges of a global enterprise organisation as well as the nuances and day-to-day influences that come with working for a boutique consultancy. It’s been the challenges, lessons and opportunities from each of these worlds that has helped shape and define my project management style and persona. In addition to traditional project management, I’ve diversified my repertoire by incorporating scrum into my toolkit as a certified scrum master. Understanding the importance of agile and being able to deliver this for different organisations is highly beneficial, particularly considering the movement to provide immediate results and gratification to the ever-increasing demands of the consumer, as well as satisfy the equally demanding expectations of improving the workforce experience. Delivering both waterfall and agile projects to a range of customers, whilst being cognisant of their wider business strategy, technical roadmap and stakeholder influences has evolved my style and discipline to ensure I always try to find and facilitate the most effective solution in the most time and budget-effective manner.
