ABOUT IAN MITCHELMORE

I have worked as a freelance sports journalist for BBC Sport Wales since May 2023 and for Dragon Sports/Dragon Bet since July 2024.The former role involves regularly producing news stories, breaking news, match reports, pressconference articles, exclusive stories and live page content on a range of sports, predominantly EFLfootball for Wrexham, but also on darts, rugby union and Wales’ sporting national teams.I have also been responsible for sub-editing and publishing digital content during online productionshifts, in addition to managing BBC Sport Wales’ digital pages. The latter role involves producing written content on a range of sports, including football, darts and rugby union.I previously worked for Media Wales between October 2016 and May 2023. Having started out as asports writer in a role that saw me cover various sports including football, rugby union and darts, I was promoted to the role of Swansea City correspondent in December 2018. In this post,I was solely responsible for the club coverage across three newspapers (South Wales Evening Post,Western Mail and Wales on Sunday) as well as for the website (Wales Online). Content consistentlyproduced included match reports, player ratings, pre-match and post-match press conference articles, live pages, video content, social media content plus interviews and transfer stories - many of which were exclusively sourced.In November 2017, I was appointed as the company\'s Wales football correspondent. I covered theWelsh national side in countries around the world, including at Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup inQatar.After graduating from the University of Central Lancashire with a 2:1 degree in Sports Journalism in2013, I joined the national news agency Mercury Press and Media in Liverpool as a news reporter before joining Mid Glamorgan Press Agency in Porthcawl as a sports journalist two years later.
