About Ian Joyce

I love organizations that aspire to do and build new things that make a difference, and I\'ve used my leadership, skills and insights to help them erode the status quo. I\'ve done this in the supply chain management, financial services, technology, education, and outdoor recreation industries. I have a particular interest in the nonprofit sector, where I strive alongside others to create social good. I began my career as a writer, and never lost my love for making complex concepts easy to understand. Clarity in strategy, ideas, and direction is at the heart of how I lead and manage people.My roots in non-profits run deep, and I currently devote my time as a volunteer to Breakthrough T1D, where I\'m a member of the Global Mission Board.

   As COO, I am accountable for organizational strategy, marketing, development, data management, and field operations functions and staff. To date, I have directed changes in strategy and staffing that have:• Reversed a decline in YoY P2P fundraising, and significantly improved the financial efficiency of event fundraising. • Changed perceptions of the organization\'s critical role in spina bifida research among major donors, unlocking new major gifts. • Elevated the organization\'s profile, and clarified our role in supporting lifelong care for people with spina bifida.I play a significant role in patient advocacy, collaborating with grassroots advocates, lobbyists, researchers, and industry stakeholders to secure federal funding for SBA priorities, and address issues of importance to the spina bifida patient community. My work in this area includes developing and leading a public affairs campaign to address a critical regulatory priority, and securing partnerships and funding to execute the campaign.
