ABOUT IAN GIBBONS

As the Interim Head of Sports Performance at San Diego Wave Fútbol Club in the NWSL, I lead the design and delivery of the physical preparation, nutritional, and recovery programs for the professional soccer players. I also collaborate with the coaching staff, medical team, and analytics department to optimize the performance and wellness of the athletes.In addition, I provide performance coaching and management services to various professional sports teams as an independent contractor, with a focus on rugby. I have been the Performance Manager for Premier Rugby Sevens, the first professional rugby sevens league in the US, since 2020, where I coordinate the high-performance services for all men\'s and women\'s teams in the league, including strength and conditioning, sports science, and nutrition. I have previously supported the performance coaching for US Soccer Men\'s National Team, Utah Warriors Rugby, and USA Rugby Women’s National Team (7s and 15s)I have 16 years of experience in the sports performance industry. I have worked with elite athletes and teams across different countries and continents, including Japan, Kenya, the U.K. and the US. I have a proven track record of delivering results at the highest level of competition, including the 2020 Olympic Games. I am passionate about applying evidence-based and innovative approaches to enhance the performance and well-being of the athletes and teams I work with. I am also committed to continuous learning and professional development, and to sharing my knowledge and expertise with others in the field.
