ABOUT IAN GARLAND
I have over 35 years of experience in the Information Technology industry working for Computer Manufacturers such as AST Computers, end user organisation, such as Siddall and Hilton and over the last 30 years UK leading Service Providers, the current employee being @Wavenet Group. Over the last twenty years, I have enjoyed developing our Storage and Data Management portfolio and providing Strategic Consultancy for our corporate accounts. We have seen substantial growth with NetApp, HPE and EMC Storage solutions. In addition to specialising in storage infrastructures, I also specialise in Data Life Cycle Management and Compliance solutions, with specific skills in high availability business continuity solutions. Never a dull moment, my role is split between marketing activities,(such as Strategic vendor development, PR and public speaking / presenting at product launches) whilst spending time with customers generating new business with major accounts. I get significant job satisfaction from my role, using my analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities to solve customers\' business issues. My ultimate goal is to simplify their IT and make their platforms work more efficiently.I\'m able to develop effective relationships with clients, suppliers and business partners to produce successful end-to-end solutions. The recent consultancy has been for Barclays Bank & Lloyds Development in the financial sector as well as several large Councils and Universities in the public sector. At the NetApp Partner Awards in 2025, I was awarded the “Partner Technical Person” for the work completed for customers over the past year.Specialities: Hybrid Cloud Solution with NetApp, HPE Storage, Dell EMC, Data Protection technology (Veeam, Zerto), Server virtualisation (VMware, Hyper-V, Azure Local, HPE VM Essentials), and Hypescalers (Azure and AWS) with past ITIL and Prince 2 certifications, but also newer more agile deployment model, such as Wavenet OnDemand.
