ABOUT IAN HUNT

A commercially competent and proven Technical and Commercial professional with 25 years of experience in both local and international FMCG, big 4 UK retail and manufacturing. Extensive understanding of the South African Food supply and retail sector gained through key positions in retail and manufacturing. All gained through Senior Technical and Commercial management roles with skills in taking technically underperforming or failing businesses and turning them around. Further enhanced by experience in roles with multi-site responsibility. This experience includes High Risk Foods, Ambient Grocery, Meat Processing and Butchery, Seafood, Produce, Non-Foods, Sandwiches/Sushi, Frozen Food, Bakery, Drinks, Dairy and in store retail operations. All positions have been responsible for accountable management of Food Safety, Quality and associated systems. Trained in HACCP & TACCP, ethical trading/CSR and Value Chain/Process development to provide the ability to manage and deliver continuous improvement in all areas against a balanced scorecard. Taken the lead on 3 major factory design and build projects, across different industry sectors all from initial design to full commissioning and operation- Chilled/Frozen Food plant focussed on maximisation of logistics efficiency, A State of the art high technology and high throughput UHT dairy plant and a high capacity Carbonated Drinks manufacturing plant. With experience of managing directly and supporting R&D with proven capability in manging factory scale up to deliver on time and on cost/quality product launches ensuring all aspects of the launch process are covered and managed effectively. A unique skill set with a detailed of knowledge of the Food/FMCG retail, Manufacturing and NGO-Food sectors as well as Process Development and Commercial acumen gained from structured time in roles from a commercial perspective, therefore providing a strong skill set to be able to understand the cost impact of the process on the overall value chain from field to store. A very strong people and team manager with the focus and ability to develop highly motivated multi skilled teams and stakeholders that are capable to think outside the box and drive business and technical strategy. Able to create change in a quick but yet sustainable way with a strong proven track record of delivering customer and stakeholder value.
