ABOUT IAN TALLEY
I am an aspiring policy professional building bridges between disciplines to solve complex institutional challenges from the ground up. As a senior at UIC pursuing degrees in English and Public Policy, my diverse education helps me make connections that others overlook. My work is rooted in a deep understanding of how policy, regulation, and organizational design shape outcomes. I worked with the Coalition to Save Our Mental Health Centers to expand access to mental health services in my Chicago neighborhood and have organized with fellow campus housing staff to establish the second undergraduate RA union at a public university. I believe that meaningful change happens when strategy meets community and I’m committed to being part of that intersection.I completed a research fellowship on-site at Cook County’s Department of Environment, offering policy recommendations that would improve their regulatory strategy and reprioritize community-engaged policymaking in order to advance environmental justice in solid waste management. Today, I am not making recommendations- I am seeing through departmental initiatives at Old Republic, advancing internal branding to improve transparency and reduce operational risks in the Compliance and Regulatory Affairs department. I am driving organizational change in the private sector by taking the lessons I have learned about community throughout my time in the public sector. If you\'re working to build more equitable, sustainable, or effective systems, I’d love to connect with you and learn from your story!
