About Ian Smith
In early 2020 I quit my engineering job and pivoted to work in politics. I see a massive problem with American (and global) culture and believe we cannot solve any major issue until we solve our political culture. This does not mean electing 1 school of ideals into absolute power - it means diverse schools of thought (liberal and conservative) sitting down at the table together with the goal of solving our problems in a way that works for most Americans. My background is in electrical engineering system integration, which means I\'ve worked with product marketing, software, mechanical, networking, and program management teams to keep the project moving forward. My experience in two startups has exposed me to all roles, from engineering to marketing to product strategy to branding. I work best in a small, versatile team of motivated people. I attained a degree in Electrical Engineering Bachelor\'s from Northeastern University and a SM in Electrical Engineering from MIT. I helped launch the company Nest, the original Nest Learning Thermostat, and both generations of the Nest Protect.
