About Ian Smith
more than 40 years of experience within the Pharmaceutical Industry all based in QC/QA, Compliance and Validation. Covered all aspects of API, drug product packaging, labelling and distribution of all dosage forms including oral solid, parenterals, vaccines, biotech (Monoclonals) creams ointments and liquids and animal health products. Worked for 16 years in the industrial arena i.e. commercial manufacture and then 12 years in R and D (first 2 years were also R and D) with strong interaction in the commercialization of development products. For the last 6 years I have returned to commercial aspects but latterly have assumed a senior global role for Compliance.Specialties: Microbiologist by education with knowledge and experience of aseptic manufacture both at the API and drug product level. Auditing, alliance management and team building. Strong Compliance focus but tempered with British pragmatism.
