About Ian Polidora

My journey to this point has been full of rich experiences that have formed me in many ways. From a young age I have always had a passion for solving problems and creating. As I continued in life I was drawn toward computer engineering and software development because it would allow me to solve real-world problems and create new and innovative solutions using cutting edge-technology.Throughout my time at Penn State University I enhanced my coding skills and developed habits to use in my post-graduate career. I utilized a variety of different coding languages including Python, Java, C, and Swift. While working with these languages I developed a strong understanding of coding principles and and standard practices that have become habits that I use in my projects. My experience culminated in a capstone project. A group of myself and 4 other students were tasked with developing AI software that could map out a route to clean the siding of buildings using a robot. This project was a great challenge that pushed my boundaries and caused me to think outside of the box and work with new technologies to create an innovative solution to the problem. Not only was I able to hone my technical skills, I was also able to improve on my project management and teamwork skills throughout the process. I have recently completed a full stack java development boot camp where I was able to grow further by exploring front-end development. This experience allowed me to visualize and utilize the full tech stack for a web application and learn about front-end design principles and practices. I was able to round out my technical skills and gain a deeper appreciation and knowledge for everything that goes into an application. The boot camp culminated in a capstone project involving creating a fully functioning SpringBoot application. I was able to enhance the skills that I had learned in my prior capstone project and utilize all of my prior experiences to complete this task. I am now beginning my career in software development and look forward to continuing to grow and learn every day so that I am able to solve problems and improve the world around me through technology.
