About Ian Perry
I have been trading power since 2010. I entered the trading industry with an accounting and finance background, and though not practicing, I am still a licensed CPA. Since June of 2017, I have been focused on financial spec power trading at Dynasty. I have built a supply/demand aggregation model to determine near term forward power product valuations, and I monitor and analyze weather forecast modeling to remain ahead of significant fundamental changes. My primary responsibilities at Shell Trading were to: 1) manage the hedge for a large combined cycle natural gas plant in PJM, while ensuring its operational optimization, 2) take speculative forward power and gas positions, and 3) price customer deals and manage the cash month exposure resulting from the associated basis positions.Prior to trading, I was a financial analyst supporting Pennzoil and Quaker State brand management and Shell\'s lubricants sales teams. My last role in Shell Finance was a supervisory position in which I worked closely with finance, legal, sales, and credit teams to structure deals and complete contracts with large motor oil installers, that were to receive significant incentive funds to sell Shell\'s products. The foundation for my career was the 2 years I spent as a financial statement auditor for Andersen and KPMG, after graduating from UT Austin\'s Professional Program in Accounting in 2001. These early educational and work experiences not only taught me about accounting, assurance, and risk, but also instilled in me a strong work ethic.
