Ian has over 15 years’ experience in law and financial services. He is chief counsel for Manulife\'s banking and trust businesses in Canada and co-chief counsel for Manulife Canada. He is a member of Manulife Bank\'s executive leadership team and Manulife Canada\'s law and compliance leadership team. Ian leads a team of legal executives, lawyers, and paralegals and is accountable for promoting employee engagement and high performance across a range of businesses and legal specialties.Ian began his career as a commercial litigator at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP and Aird & Berlis LLP in Toronto and has held progressively senior legal roles in banking and finance since going in-house. He graduated with distinction with Commerce (Finance) and Law Degrees from McGill University in Montreal and completed a Masters in Business Law (LLM) at the University of Western Ontario, where his thesis explored the role of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Canadian banking.
