ABOUT IAN OJWANG

A dynamic, results-oriented Graduate Structural Engineer from the University of Edinburgh, with proven competencies in designing and consulting across multiple domains of civil engineering. Demonstrated hands-on experience in executing structural designs and providing engineering advice during internships at Price & Myers and Arup, where I excelled in finite element modelling, developed efficient structural solutions, and undertook robust analysis for various structures. With a solid understanding of technical design in concrete, steel, and timber, as well as software proficiency in Tekla Structures, Robot Structural Analysis Professional, AutoCAD, and LS-DYNA, I offer versatile skills that can address diverse project requirements. I\'ve played a significant role in managing whole life carbon studies, reinforcing my commitment towards net-zero goals. I\'ve garnered leadership experience as an Undergraduate Civil Engineering Program Representative and an Industry Representative for the Civil Engineering Society, where I implemented strategic initiatives such as industry talks and CV portfolio services for students. I have a strong track record of engaging with the academic and broader community through diverse roles, including Research Assistant, Career Service Assistant, and Digital Ambassador. My academic journey was punctuated by awards and scholarships recognizing my leadership and technical prowess. As a speaker at the SFPE International Conference, I\'ve shared insights into fire safety, a topic I also extensively researched as part of my responsibilities as a Research Assistant at the University of Edinburgh. I\'m now looking forward to bringing my passion for Structural Engineering, my technical skills, and my leadership experience to contribute to innovative, sustainable, and resilient infrastructure projects.
