ABOUT IAN MORGAN

I am a positive, motivated and driven Public Relations professional.I work full-time as a Communications Specialist with Gwent Police, where I have organised campaigns to build public trust and confidence in tackling shoplifting; knife crime; illegal use of e-bikes and off-road bikes; nighthawking; and the sale of illegal vapes. Working within the neighbourhood policing pillar, last year I achieved a record 1.1 million views on an Instagram post with a video clip of an off-road bike operation. Before moving into public relations, I enjoyed an unbroken 18-year career as a news and sports reporter in regional journalism on daily and weekly titles, including Worcester News and Hereford Times. As a former journalist, I am a calm and resilient person, who can work with challenging individuals and deal with sensitive matters. As a hands-on communicator, I am competent in copy-writing, proof-reading and media relations and possess the ability to produce compelling and creative articles for print and online.Previously, I was the Deputy Director of Marketing and Public Relations at Haberdashers’ Monmouth Schools, an independent school for day and boarding pupils.I am empathetic, build positive relationships with people and have strong verbal and written skills.National Council for the Training of Journalists trained, I have a background in media law and a degree in Journalism Studies from The University of Sheffield.I worked at an independent school for six years, managing the Marketing and PR Department between June 2022 and April 2023.
