ABOUT IAN MILES
IMPORTANT: I am now an Emeritus Professor at University of Manchester, and am thus not available to supervise doctoral students, host visitors, or sign up as a UoM participant in major research collaborations. I am also continuing my part-time position at Higher School of Economics, Moscow. I am, furthermore, working with the Foundation for a Smoke-Free World on a project entitled Foresight foor Tobacco Harm Reduction (FORTH).SUMMARY OF EDUCATION:Awarded Doctorate in Social Science (higher doctorate) from University of Manchester in 2011, based on contributions to the study of service innovation. I have also attained a BSc Honours 1st class in Psychology, also from University of Manchester, in 1969. I abandoned a PhD study in social psychology, when I discovered innovation and futures studies working at SPRU, University of Sussex.I worked at SPRU (Science Policy Research Unit, University of Sussex) for some 18 years on futures, information technologies, services and innovation (and did manage a set of studies on the social psychology of unemployment). Since then I spent over 25 years at University of Manchester, initially in PREST, which became MIoIR (Manchester Institute of Innovation Research). I have been fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time, working with and being inspired by a series of brilliant colleagues. Thank you all!Plenty of publications can be located via Google Scholar & hl=en), and some powerpoints are available on Slideshare Services, service innovation, KIBS, indicators, Foresight
