Responsible for industry-academia interactions at the Continuous Manufacturing and Advanced Crystallisation Future Manufacturing Hub, I manage a portfolio of industry-academia research and development projects and all technical interactions with the CMAC Tier 1 companies (AZ, Bayer, GSK, Lilly, Novartis, Roche, Takeda) to deliver mutually beneficial outcomes to all parties.• Driving continual improvement and excellence in all technical interactions with Tier 1 companies including responsibly for budget and legal agreements and leading projects with academics for ~10 industrial research projects per year. These projects have delivered >£5million of benefits to the companies.• Initiate, develop and deliver innovative collaboration models with industry ensuring CMAC sustainability and delivery of business case. For example-o Instigating setting up of Industrial mentor scheme for over 50 PhD students and 25 industrialists: now seen as a key method for translation of academic research into industry. o Initiate and arrange PhD industrial placements for ~ 15 PhD Researchers per annumo Drove move away from non-confidential projects for companies to confidential projects that have delivered immediate impact on live pharmaceutical manufactures resulting in much higher internal company visibility and impact.o Lead and collate input from industrial collaborators for technical content and scope for successful CMAC Hub renewal (£10 million over 7 years)• Lead integration of new Tier 1 members, understanding their needs identifying and ensuring links with relevant researchers, academics.• Develop strategic relationships within Tier 1 companies across a range of seniority and technical expertise to understand their needs to influence research ensuring world-class industrially relevant research and impact.• In-house R&D expertise providing input to academic research programmes, present at conferences as well as mentoring PhD and RAs and guest lecturing on MSc courses.
