ABOUT IAN FOX-WILLIAMS

I have worked in higher U.K. legal education since 2006 (UK and overseas HEIs) and have led on the development of Foundation,UG,PG and professional law degrees/courses both in the U.K. and internationally. I have led on the creation of foundation degrees (domestic and international) to create a recruitment pipeline onto English law degrees. I posses significant experience in working with domestic and overseas accreditation bodies and highlight achievements so far have included the creation of law programmes in Hong Kong, India, Singapore and Sri Lanka which have resulted in significant student recruitment for a number of U.K. universities. I have held various senior law school leadership roles since 2011 with specific strategic and operational oversight of external engagement (both U.K. and international) and partnerships. My passion for developing partnerships and expertise in global legal education has led to the creation of several franchised law degrees to overseas providers that have created large overseas law graduates as well as a significant stream of external income.In 2017 I led on the widening participation agenda of legal education for both national and international students. By leading on the creation, implementation and delivery of a foundation law year at a large Birmingham university that exceeded recruitment targets to become a leading faculty and institutional innovation. Currently at Coventry Law School (formerly Associate Head of School Global Engagement and Curriculum Lead for International Law) I have had management oversight and led on efficiencies and pedagogical enhancements for a longstanding Sino-U.K. partnership with an institution in China. Recently I led on the creation of a new top up degree designed for international law students to complete the LLB at Coventry University.As an experienced academic I possess significant external examiner experience (Chief External Examiner for law including TNE programmes and validation events) and have reviewed a number of international foundation study centres across the U.K. I have held various consultative positions at overseas legal education organisations as well as visiting professorships/adjunct faculty positions at overseas law schools. I have significant experience on leading quality assurance processes and have worked with an extensive number of accrediting and external bodies in the U.K. and overseas relevant to legal education.
