I didn’t follow a straight line into leadership — and I think that’s why I understand it so well.I owned my first salon at 22 and learned plenty of expensive lessons. Needing a change, what was meant to be a six-month trip around Europe in a camper van turned into 12 years, 30 countries, and almost a decade in Bermuda, where I specialised in Afro hair. Along the way, I immersed myself in both business and personal development.Annual Native American retreats in the White Mountains of Maine taught me resilience and how to trust the process. In Central America, I was held up at gunpoint (and knife point). In Asia, I learned that not everything is as it seems. These experiences shaped how I see people, business, and the importance of staying grounded.When I returned to the UK, I owned and managed salons in London, served as Vice President and later President of the NHBF, and sat on several industry and charity boards. Those roles gave me a front-row seat to the struggles salon owners face: making profit, managing people, staying compliant, paying fairly — all while trying to maintain their own wellbeing.That’s why I founded Loop HR.As a salon owner, I needed reliable management tools. Traditional HR systems don’t work for the hair and beauty industry — they can’t handle flexible working, commission-based pay, or the creative culture that makes our world unique. Loop HR was built to fix that. It simplifies the back-office chaos — payroll, schedules, holidays, training, career progression, compliance — into clear, accurate processes that support both managers and their teams.I believe management and leadership are two different things, but when they come together, that’s when the magic happens.
