ABOUT IAN DUMAIN

Ian represents businesses and individuals in their most important matters and helps them resolve their knottiest problems through counseling, investigation, litigation, and negotiation. Ian has represented financial services firms, pharmaceutical and medical device companies, rating agencies, law firms, an accounting firm, corporate executives, insurance companies, hedge funds, portfolio managers, media companies, world-renowned artists, prisoners, and others. He has handled cases under the federal securities laws; state contract, fiduciary, privacy, and tort law; state and federal false claims laws; Food and Drug Administration regulations; the federal Visual Artists’ Rights Act; the federal Trust Indenture Act; the federal civil rights laws; and state post-conviction laws, among other laws and regulations. Ian has extensive trial and arbitration experience and has appeared in courts across the country and arbitral tribunals in the United States and Europe. Ian also has a winning appellate track record. He has obtained affirmances and reversals, in federal court and state court.Ian knows, however, that often the best outcome is avoiding the courtroom. His clear-eyed litigation assessments, candid advice, and skillful negotiation frequently produce favorable settlements before litigation has begun. Outside the office, Ian is an active member of his local community. He is a Trustee and the Secretary of The Leffell School, where he is also the chair of the Audit Committee; a Trustee and the Senior Vice President of Camp Ramah in the Berkshires, where he is also the chair of the Audit Committee; and a former Trustee and Vice President of Temple Israel Center (White Plains, NY). Ian was part of the fourth cohort of the Westchester Jewish Council’s Honorable Samuel G. Fredman Leadership Development Institute. Ian lives in Westchester County with his wife, two children, and two rescue dogs. Ian\'s family has had New York Giants season tickets since 1961-and his family goes to the games in good times and bad.
