ABOUT IAN DANIELS

An inspirational leader with strong technical skills coupled with extensive experience building, leading and transforming team dynamics from traditional models to self-organising, self-supporting, highly motivated teams through models of servant leadership and Agile principles. Most recent role in BT TV and Broadband was the culmination of 17 years of experience in that area and saw me working across the QA function of the consumer TV, Business to business TV, consumer broadband and consumer WiFi functions to lead QA activities, bring transformation through culture, attitudes and tooling, and bring similar transformation to other BT business units we interfaced with. Since joining BT in 1993 I have been involved in automation, and the transformation it can bring to our products and processes. Between 1993 and 2004 I worked in a fully devops squad, conceptualising, architecting, developing, deploying and operating the world’s first fully automated audio-graphic conferencing solution for BT. The techniques and skills I learnt in those early years have shaped and directed how I have worked since. After building and leading the operation and maintenance of the BT Vision launch platform I led the introduction of graduates and apprentices, building two apprenticeship frameworks to degree level in partnership with a university.I have extensive experience managing relationships and contracts with critical suppliers, transforming those relationships into highly effective partnerships where we have direct influence over the future roadmap of their products. In parallel with my role at BT I\'ve had a significant role in the church which in recent years has led to me leading a new church plant in our community. We are there to try to benefit our community as a whole, being available and working with anyone regardless of faith or none, whilst also providing opportunities for people to explore Christian faith as well as providing a space and growth for the local Christian community to worship and serve together. I am looking to see what comes next at the moment, I am open to roles within the IT world, roles that help me give back to the next generation of IT professionals (teaching/mentoring etc), and roles within the church that can use my experience in youth and families work, music, and parish ministry.
