ABOUT IAN CARLO MACATO

Ian’s personal mission is to empower people and communities to create transformative work and impact.As a proud first-generation/low-income Filipino graduate from Stanford University, Ian double majored in Symbolic Systems, an interdisciplinary program that intersects computer science, cognitive neuroscience, linguistics, and philosophy, and Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity, as a way to understand people, communities and institutions. Ian concentrated in Human/Computer Interaction and is fascinated with user design and experience. Through previous internships and work experiences, Ian has approached technology as a viable pathway to creating an equitable world. At Tesla, he developed solutions to over 6 high-priority tickets that were approved for production over 10 weeks leading to a more efficient manufacturing process. At Stanford, Ian has combined human-centered design thinking and technical processes to create new products that have applications in philanthropy, education and wellness. Integrated within his academics is his deep commitment to social justice work that focuses on the collective liberation of marginalized communities.
