ABOUT HYUNKOOK LEE

I am Professor of Audio and Psychoacoustic Engineering, and the Director of the Centre for Audio and Psychoacoustic Engineering (CAPE)/Applied Psychoacoustics Lab (APL) at the University of Huddersfield, UK. Past and current research areas include the perception of auditory height and vertical stereophony, development of new 3D/VR/AR microphone array and reproduction techniques, perceptual modelling of room acoustics for 6 degrees of freedom (6DOF) VR/AR applications, perceptual optimisation of interactive virtual acoustics, etc. Before joining Huddersfield in 2010, I was Senior Research Engineer at LG Electronics, South Korea (20••••10), where I contributed to MPEG audio standardisation (SAOC and USAC) and developed spatial audio engines for LG mobile phones (LG Sound 1.0, 2.0). I graduated from the Music and Sound Recording (Tonmeister) course at the University of Surrey (19••••02), and received my PhD in spatial audio psychoacoustics at the same university (Supervisor: Dr Francis Rumsey, 20••••06). I am also a freelance recording engineer specialising in surround/3D sound recording. I have been an active member of the Audio Engineering Society (AES) since 2001, and a Fellow of the AES since 2018. I am Vice Chair for High Resolution Audio Technical Committee of the AES, a Technical Associate Editor for Journal of the AES, and an Editorial Board Member for the AES/Routledge \"AES Presents\" book series.
