About Andrew Reese
Howdy, the name\'s Andrew Reese, living in the DFW area of Texas 🤘 I am a very curious person who likes to constantly jump into and learn/absorb new things; in my career and out. To clarify, this means I am a T-shaped generalist, not a specialist. I actually started out as a Graphic Designer at my first career-level in 2010, where I also had to maintain and further build out their websites; which made me realize that I had a natural knack and passion for coding. So from then on I focused on coding as my career path. Where I eventually just kept growing my languages/frameworks/tooling. Recently I was clanking around with using Terraform as an IaC layer to build Kubernetes clusters utilizing things like Helm charts for package management, Oauth2-Proxy for auth, and GitHub Actions for the CI/CD flow, along with things like ArgoCD for GitOps. Outside of that I was helping the team in the rebuild of some of the backend services in Ruby on Rails. I used to list all of them here, but I\'ve decided to just list ones I\'m either currently working with or enjoy most–except the ones already listed above–: TypeScript/JavaScript, HTML/CSS/SASS, Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, React/Next (a few of the current under the hood favs: Recoil/Redux/Context, Apollo/Axios/React Query, and Jest/RTL/Storybook). I have deep experience in SQL (e.g. PostgreSQL) and noSQL (e.g. MongoDB) dbs, preferably paired with a good ORM like Prisma. I currently use AWS and GCP often at my work as our PaaS of choice, but decided to use Azure for my personal project(s) to try them out and to help me grow more platform agnostic in my approaches–except lambda functions, AWS\' approach on Serverless is much more straightforward IMO–. Also dabbling with others on and off that I wouldn\'t call myself exactly proficient in yet: Rust, Go, Elixir, Python, Java, Redwood, T3, and more. My favorite tooling to use currently is: VS Code, Firefox Developer Edition, Insomnia, iTerm2 w/ oh my zsh. If you want to know which plugins I use for my tooling, feel free to ask! Outside of just my career/hobby/passion of coding, I\'m also into: IoT, 3d printing, philosophy–Albert Camus is my boi–, sociology, cinema, video/tabletop gaming, the esoteric (e.g. oddities, macabre, antiques), and I enjoy listening to and playing music.
