ABOUT HYEOKHYEN KWON

Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence Researcher for HealthHyeokhyen Kwon, or Hyeok, is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Biomedical Informatics at Emory University School of Medicine and the co-founder and co-director of the Center for Brain and Behavior AI for Neurohealth Science and Support (BRAINS), leading the innovations for clinically validated, patient-centered AI research, closely working with teams from Georgia Tech, Grady Healthcare, Morehouse School of Medicine, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA), and Emory Healthcare. He is also affiliated with Computer Science and Informatics at Emory University, the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Emory University and Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), and the Machine Learning Center and Parker H. Petit Institute for Bioengineering and Bioscience at Georgia Tech. His research focuses on designing accessible, scalable, ethical, and privacy-preserving machine learning systems using ambient, mobile, and wearable devices to tackle healthcare challenges. Dr. Kwon and his team actively collaborate with stakeholders in healthcare systems to co-develop and validate the Health AI technology and AI-driven clinical decision support systems in real-world clinics or daily living environments. He has published in various journals and conferences for AI, mobile computing, digital health, and health informatics. His research has been accepted for US patents and has also received support from federal, industry, and philanthropic agencies.
