Driving transformative change at BT Digital as a Transformation Leader. I thrive on building from the ground up. I’m currently at the heart of a program redesigning BT Digital\'s product operating model. This involves establishing 16 product or platform tribes and empowering them with effective infrastructure, ways-of-working, funding and leadership. My most significant achievement so far was creating and implementing a Performance Analysis Methodology that fundamentally changed how BT Digital analyses and improves performance. Previously, BT Digital had an unhealthy focus on output metrics and project milestones. I shifted the company to a holistic understanding of a software business’ ability to create customer value profitably, considering: 1. Customer value & engagement 2. Delivery pace and predictability 3. Stack health – stable, maintainable and scalable platforms and applications 4. Finding and removing blockers for teams This was about understanding the drivers of long-term sustainable business value in a software company and the needs of decision makers in defining how to restructure our operating model, improve ways-of-working and allocating investment. The impact has been remarkable: 1. Adopted as the sole methodology for performance analysis above the tribe level.2. Used across 6 business units to inform investment decisions worth hundreds of millions (all of BT Digital’s capital investment budget).3. Delivered £900k annual savings. Presented live to an audience of and celebrated by the CEO. Achieving this required building a high-performing team from across BT and external consultancies, securing buy-in for the mission, and structuring the work using Kanban. I also had to develop relationships with people from all major functions and levels from operational to director to gather data and test our solution (>100 people in total).
