ABOUT HUNY THAKKAR

I have always been deeply interested in how global justice, politics, and economics intersect, not just as abstract ideas, but in how they shape everyday lives and influence the systems we live within. This curiosity continues to inform both my academic journey and my creative pursuits.Over the years, I have explored these themes across a variety of platforms. I have delivered three TED-Ed Talks, addressing topics such as the subtle art of self-love, the importance of reading in today’s world, and the need to preserve and celebrate one’s mother tongue. I’ve also scripted and performed in street plays that challenge social norms and provoke important conversations.As a Liberal Studies student, I’ve had the opportunity to study politics, economics, and philosophy in a way that connects theory with lived experience. I view academic research not just as a tool for understanding systems, but also for telling stories that matter. This is why I find myself equally drawn to international relations as I am to poetry—each offering a different lens through which to question, reflect, and reimagine.In addition to academics, I’ve taken on leadership roles in debate, dramatics, and service organizations. These experiences have taught me how to build communities around ideas and inspire collaboration. Whether I’m hosting a flagship university event or performing in a 24-hour world-record Gujarati play, I strive to use my voice not just to speak, but to connect, to challenge, and to move people.At the core of everything I do is a commitment to meaning and impact. Whether through data, dialogue, or creative expression, I am constantly seeking ways to engage with the world thoughtfully and purposefully.
