I will be investigating the role of Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) as a potential mediator of trained immunity, a process whereby macrophages retain inflammatory memory after exposure to stimuli. Our preliminary, the Doran Lab\'s, data suggests macrophages primed with PGE2 exhibit an enhanced inflammatory cytokine response when re-stimulated but paradoxically display increased efficiency in efferocytosis, a key resolution process. Future work will explore the epigenetic and metabolic mechanisms underlying PGE2-induced trained immunity.
