About Huiling Ding
Huiling Ding is Professor of Technical Communication and Director of Labor Analytics and Workforce Development at NC State University. She supports student success and curriculum updates with labor analytics and builds industry and professional partnerships to create valuable professional connections for students. As the principal investigator of an NSF Convergence Accelerator grant, she led a team of 20+ faculty and students with a budget of about 1 million dollars, collaborating with stakeholders from the public and private sectors to examine possible ways to build innovative AI tools to support workforce reskilling and reemployment. She is currently teaching a dual-level Responsible AI and Society class thanks to generous support from Google and the National Humanities Center. Leading efforts of international partnership building, she put together multiple 3+2 Accelerated BA-to-MS programs in Technical Communication. As a scholar, her research focuses on AI and risk communication, labor market analytics, epidemic communication, and intercultural communication. Her research projects have two themes: responsible artificial intelligence and society, and the interaction between pandemics such as SARS and COVID-19 and cultures.
